Quinte West OPP – Suspect Attempts To Disarm Officer

On Tuesday, at approximately 4:12 a.m., officers from the Quinte West Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) while conducting a focus patrol observed a suspicious vehicle on Bayview Drive in the city of Quinte West. As the officers conducted a traffic stop and approached the vehicle as the male driver fled on foot refusing to stop for police.
After a short foot chase the suspect was apprehended and taken into custody. During the apprehension the suspect resisted arrest and assaulted and attempted to disarm an officer. No injuries were sustained in the incident.
Jesse Page-Thomas, 30, of no fixed address, was charged with:
Possession stolen property obtained by Crime ;
Assault Peace Officer with intent to Resist Arrest;
Possession of Controlled Substance (Cocaine);
Possession of Controlled Substance (Cannabis Resin);
Possession of Controlled Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking (Cannabis Resin);
Disarming a Peace Officer; Trespass at Night;
Theft Under $5000; Possession of Break-In Instruments;
Driving While Disqualified; Four Counts of Failing to Comply with Recognizance.
The accused was held in custody for a Bail Hearing and is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Belleville on September 4.
