Cobourg Police – Victoria Harbour Man Charged with Impaired (No Name Released)

On October 3rd, 2024, at 1:02 am, Police conducted a traffic stop on Elgin Street West, for a vehicle
being operated without rear lights. Police spoke to the 31-year-old male driver from Victoria Harbour,
detecting a strong odour of alcohol emanating from his breath. The male subsequently failed a
roadside screening device.

The male was arrested and transported to the Cobourg Police Service and as a result of the investigation, he was charged with the following offences:

1. Drive Without Proper Rear Lights

2. Driver Fail to Surrender License

3. Operating with over 80 mgs of alcohol.

The accused was released when sober with with a future court date.

Cobourg Police Service encourages the public to report suspected impaired driving by calling 911.
Impaired driving is the leading criminal cause of death and injury in Canada, yet every impaired driving
crash is preventable. By calling 911 and reporting suspected impaired drivers to the police, everyone
