City of Kawartha Lakes OPP – Three Impaired Charges on Friday Night (Names Released)

On Friday, July 5th 2024, Members from the City of Kawartha Lakes Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to three separate calls for service within three hours that all resulted in a driver being charged with operation while impaired.

At 7:30 p.m. Emergency Services responded to a vehicle collision at Highway 7 and Dew Drop Inn Road, in Lindsay. As a result of the collision, the two parties in the Mazda sedan were transported to Ross Memorial Hospital for minor injuries.

The driver of t he Volkswagen was, Thomas Davis, 27 years-old from Minden was arrested and charged with operation while impaired- blood alcohol concentration (80 plus).

In addition, Thomas received a 90-day licence suspension, and the motor vehicle was impounded for 7 days. Thomas was released from custody with a future court date.

One hour later at approximately 8:30p.m, Officers received another call for service for possible impaired along County Road 121 near Kinmount.

The vehicle was located by Officers. As a result of the investigation Michael Kougias, 39-years- old from Bowmanville was arrested and charged with various criminal code charges including.

Operation while impaired-blood alcohol concentration (80plus)

Driving while under suspension

Michael was held for bail.

At approximately 9:30p.m Officers and other emergency services responded to a single-vehicle collision on highway 7 near Mount Horeb Road. The vehicle had entered the ditched and rolled. The driver of the Dodge Caravan, Steve Juhasz, 72-years-old from Omemee, was arrested and charged with

Operation while impaired blood alcohol concentration (80plus)

In addition to the charges Steve received a 90-day licence suspension, and the motor vehicle was impounded for 7 days. Steve was released from custody with a future court date.
