In Sports

Cobourg Collegiate Institute (CCI) celebrates a successful Track and Field season and recognizes the accomplishments of student athletes who competed in the Ontario Federation of School Athletic Associations (OFSAA) Track and Field Championships held in London from June 6-8.

It was an exciting three days of competition for CCI athletes, with many achievements to celebrate as a school community. Highlights from the competition included:

Sebastian Kwasnicki, Grade 9 student, placed 16th in the Novice 400m event and 20th in the 800m; and Lena Smyth, Grade 10 student, placed 18th in the Junior Girls 300m hurdles.

A very special congratulations to Maria Linton, Grade 12 student, who placed first in the Senior Girls 3000m race, earning the Gold Medal with a time of 10 minutes, 4 seconds!

Prior to running this extremely tough race, Maria placed 4th in the Senior Girls 1500m event with a time of 4 minutes, 41 seconds.

Congratulations to all athletes who competed in OFSAA this past weekend and special acknowledgement to all CCI track and field athletes who displayed tremendous dedication and discipline throughout the entirety of the season!
