Murdoch Mysteries Filming Once Again in Port Hope

In Local

Shaftesbury Murdoch XIX Inc. will be in town next week filming scenes for an upcoming episode of Murdoch Mysteries. Filming will take place on John Street, Elias Street and Baldwin Street.

August 24 and 25

Film crews will be set dressing John Street with various era-appropriate signs and store fronts.

August 26

John Street (between Walton Street and Augusta Street) will be closed at approximately 5:00 a.m. and will remain closed overnight.

August 27

Filming will take place on John Street, Lent Lane and Elias Street. John Street (between Walton Street and Augusta Street) will remain closed until approximately 7:00 p.m. to accommodate filming.

Evening/night filming will also take place between 4:00 p.m. and midnight at a private residence on Baldwin Street. Residents should expect intermittent traffic control on Baldwin Street, Church Street, and Charles Street near the filming location. To accommodate filming, production will also be keeping Baldwin Street and a small portion of Charles Street clear of modern vehicles, as surrounding streets will be visible on camera.

Parking impacts

The production company has rented a variety of private and public parking areas in the downtown core so please plan ahead:

  • The parking lot at 95 Mill Street South will be closed to the public from August 25 to 27. The boat launch and the free and metered parking on the west side of Mill Street remain open.
  • The paid section of the Elias Street Parking Lot will be closed to the public on August 24 to 28 to accommodate residents affected by the closures.
  • Additional free parking near Downtown is available at the 74 Queen Street (Lakeland) parking lot.

Additional information

  • During filming, pedestrian access remains open but may be subject to intermittent traffic control to allow the completion of scene filming.
  • A Noise By-law exemption has been granted for the extended filming hours.
  • For awareness, on-foot chase scenes, replica weapons and theatrical smoke will be used during filming in and around Elias Street.
  • Impacted residents in the area have been notified via a resident letter.
