A cadet career spanning the better part of a decade was honoured today as Royal Canadian Army Cadet Corps 88 held its Annual Cadet Review on Willmott Street in Cobourg.
For Cadet Chief Warrant Officer Rob Hildebrand, the occasion carried special meaning.
It marked the final time his familiar commanding voice would boom across the parade square, calling cadets to attention and setting the tone with the confidence, discipline, and presence that have defined his six years of service.
Annual Cadet Reviews are among the most important moments in the cadet training year, offering cadets an opportunity to demonstrate the skills, teamwork, leadership, and dedication developed in this remarkable youth program. For families, staff, volunteers, and community supporters, the review is also a chance to recognize the commitment behind each uniform and each step on the parade square.
Hildebrand’s cadet career has been one of unmatched growth and experience.
Throughout his time with the Corps, he became known not only for his strong parade presence, but for the values he brought to every role he held: encompassing service before self, empowering leadership, and inclusion for all.
Those hallmarks shaped his leadership and helped set an example for younger cadets following in his footsteps. As a senior cadet, Hildebrand represented some of the best of the Army Cadet program: a young leader who grew through challenge, led with purpose, and contributed to a culture where others could learn, belong, and succeed.
Saturday’s (June 13, 2026) review was more than a ceremonial milestone. It was a celebration of dedication, mentorship, and the lasting impact one cadet can have on a corps and community. As Chief Warrant Officer Hildebrand concludes his cadet career, he leaves behind a legacy of professionalism, encouragement, and service that will continue to inspire the cadets of RCACC 88.
