Four GTA Youths Charged with Theft

Four youths from the Greater Toronto Area face charges after reportedly returning multiple times to steal from the same Cobourg business.

On June 10, 2026, at approximately 12:40 p.m., police responded to a report of shoplifting at a business in the area of Albert Street and Third Street in Cobourg. Staff advised that four individuals who had already stolen from the store twice earlier in the day had returned for a third time and were currently on scene.

As officers arrived, individuals matching the provided descriptions were seen entering a vehicle in the parking lot. Police initiated a traffic stop, at which point three of the four individuals fled on foot, while the driver remained with the vehicle. The driver was immediately taken into custody, and three others were apprehended a short distance away.

As a result of the investigation, four 17-year-old youths from the Greater Toronto Area were arrested and charged with theft under $5,000 and possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000.
