Video – Photo Gallery – Cygnets Hatch at Nawautin Sanctuary Near Grafton

In Local

It appears the final newborns of the season have arrived at Nawautin Sanctuary.

Four cygnets are believed to have hatched throughout the day on Monday, May 25, 2026, at the sanctuary south of Grafton.

It was precious to see mom and the swans interact for their first time.  The fluffy newcomers stayed close to their mom on the nest not yet entering the water nearby.

The soft grey down cygnets could be seen periodically as the mother swan adjusted herself on the nest.

The arrival of the young birds is considered a sign of another successful nesting season at the sanctuary, which is home to a variety of wildlife and waterfowl each year.

Nawautin Sanctuary has long been a popular destination for nature lovers, photographers and families wanting to observe wildlife in a peaceful setting.

With the latest arrivals, staff and visitors alike are reminding the public to give the swan family plenty of space to avoid causing stress to the birds during their first days of life.
