The Town of Cobourg would like to inform residents of an Enbridge Pipelines emergency exercise taking place at the Cobourg Creek near Peace Park on Tuesday, May 26, 2026.
Enbridge Pipelines will conduct an emergency response exercise on May 26, from approximately 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. The exercise will involve the deployment of emergency response equipment to contain and recover a simulated spill. This pre-planned drill is part of Enbridge’s exercise program and is designed to maintain a high level of response readiness.
Trained personnel will use emergency response equipment including containment booms to practice advanced on-water response tactics.
On the day of the exercise:
• Residents may notice Enbridge vehicles parked along Forth Street near the entrance to Peace Park.
• The park will remain open and accessible to the public during the exercise.
• A safety zone will be maintained near Cobourg Creek shorelines to ensure the safety of the public as well as Enbridge staff conducting the exercise.
• Signage will be installed on-site to clarify that there’s an ongoing exercise and to identify areas restricted to the public.
• No hazardous materials will be used during the drill.
Enbridge will adhere to strict environmental guidelines and all applicable permit restrictions throughout the drill.
