Peterborough Police – Incidents Include Drug Arrest and Impaired Charge (No Names Released)

Drug Arrest

A 51-year-old Peterborough man wanted on a warrant is facing several drug charges after he was spotted in Peterborough Friday afternoon.

At approximately 3:15pm on May 8, 2026, officers with the Peterborough Police Service Drug Unit spotted the man and he was taken into custody in the Hunter Street and Bethune Street area. During a search after arrest officers seized and located:

  • 6.8 grams of Methamphetamine
  • 68.1 grams of Cocaine
  • 29.8 grams of Fentanyl
  • Canadian currency
  • Drug paraphernalia

As a result of the investigation, a 51-year-old Peterborough was arrested on the strength of the warrants for failing to comply with probation and further charge with:

  • Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of Trafficking – Methamphetamine
  • Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of Trafficking- Other Drugs
  • Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of Trafficking – Cocaine
  • Possession of proceeds of property obtained by crime under $5000 – in Canada
  • Fail to Comply with Probation Order

The accused was held in custody and appeared in Weekend and Statutory Holiday (WASH) court on Saturday, May 9, 2026.

 

Impaired Arrest

A 21-year-old Peterborough man is facing charges after an incident early Monday morning.

At approximately 5:40am on May 11, 2026, officers were called to the area of Rippingale Trail and Broadway Boulevard about a vehicle that had struck a pole. Upon speaking with the driver of the vehicle, officers noticed signs of impairment.

As a result of the investigation, a 21-year-old Peterborough man was arrested and charged with:

  • Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)
  • Fail to notify change of address (Highway Traffic Act)
  • Novice driver – B.A.C above zero (Highway Traffic Act)
  • Careless driving (Highway Traffic Act)

The accused was issued a 90-day license suspension and seven-day vehicle impoundment.

The accused was released on an appearance notice and is scheduled to appear in court June 23, 2026.
