Statement by Northumberland County Warden Bob Crate on the Death of Sgt. Brandon Malcolm

In Local

“The residents of Northumberland County stand in solidarity and sorrow with the family, friends and colleagues of Ontario Provincial Police Sergeant Brandon Malcolm, who died yesterday in the line of duty.

Members of our local police services are at the frontlines of protecting our communities and responding to moments of crisis with courage and professionalism. It is a calling of service and sacrifice – and we are a grateful community.

On behalf of County Council and staff, I want to thank the emergency personnel who responded to yesterday’s call with skill, compassion, and dedication. And I extend our deepest expressions of condolence and respect to Sergeant Malcolm’s loved ones and the entire Ontario Provincial Police service, for this tragic loss.

The flags at Northumberland County are lowered today for the National Day of Mourning; they will remain lowered for seven days, in tribute to Sergeant Brandon Malcolm.”
