Echocardiography has moved from an outsourced service at Northumberland Hills Hospital to an in-house service.

President and Chief Administrative Officer Susan Walsh made the announcement at the hospital’s February board meeting, with a report that provided further details.

The completion of this transition means services are now available five days a week (excluding statutory holidays), improving access and reducing wait times. Patients can also get timely access to their test results through MyChart.

This new service enhances continuing of care by having the NHH team provide and manage all echocardiograms, improving operational efficiency to ensure sustainable high-quality care for the future.
The hospital extents its gratitude to a generous donor whose support – co-ordinated through the NHH Foundation – made it possible to support the necessary equipment.

“By bringing echo services in-house, NHH is building the foundation to expand cardiac diagnostic care in the years ahead, continuing our commitment to putting patients first and improving access to essential services close to home,” the report stated.
