Cobourg Police – Incidents Include Violating Release Order, Assault Peace Officer, Fail to Comply, Theft (No Names Released)

A 37-year-old Cobourg man is facing charges after violating a release order.

On February 7, 2026, at approximately 9:15 a.m., in the area of Sutherland Crescent and Battell Crescent, police on general patrol observed an individual in violation of a release order. Upon being approached by police, the individual fled the area. After a short foot pursuit, the individual was apprehended but continued to resist and try to escape police custody. A conducted energy weapon was deployed to safely make the arrest.

As a result, the 37-year-old Cobourg man was charged with Fail to Comply with Release Order, Fail to Comply with Probation Order, and Assault with Intent to Resist Arrest. The accused was held for a bail hearing and subsequently remanded into custody.


A 57-year-old Cobourg woman is facing charges after police responded to a disturbance Saturday night.

On February 7, 2026, at approximately 11:45 p.m., police responded to an address on Division Street in Cobourg and located an individual intoxicated and belligerent. As a result, a 57-year-old Cobourg woman was arrested under the Liquor Licence Control Act for being intoxicated in a public place. During the arrest, the woman became combative, kicking officers.

As a result of police investigation, the 57-year-old Cobourg woman was charged with two counts of assault peace officer, failing to comply with probation. The accused was released on an undertaking with a future court date.


A 39-year-old Cobourg man is facing charges after police initiated a partner violence investigation.

On February 8, 2026, police responded to a report of intimate partner violence at a residence in Cobourg. A woman reported receiving death threats from an ex-partner. While police were responding, the ex-partner arrived and caused damage to the property as he attempted to gain access. The man fled on foot and was apprehended by police a short distance away.

As a result of the police investigation, the 39-year-old Cobourg man was arrested and charged with assault, two counts of Mischief – Destroys or Damages Property, Forcible Confinement, Possession of Weapon for Dangerous Purpose, Uttering Threats – Cause Death or Bodily Harm, Break, Enter Dwelling House (Attempted) – Commit Indictable Offence, and Fail to Comply with Release Order. The accused was held for a show cause hearing and subsequently remanded into custody.


A 37-year-old Cobourg woman is facing charges after police responded to a disturbance on Sunday.

On February 8, 2026, at approximately 10:00 p.m., police responded to a domestic disturbance at a residence in Cobourg. As a result of the police investigation, a 37-year-old Cobourg woman was arrested and charged with Mischief and Assault. The accused was later released on an undertaking with a future court date.


Police continue to address compliance with court ordered conditions.

On February 9, 2026, at approximately 10:10 a.m., officers on general patrol observed two individuals together who were known to be under conditions prohibiting contact with one another. When approached, both fled in separate directions. Officers located and arrested both individuals a short distance away.

As a result, a 34-year-old Cobourg man was charged with Failure to Comply with a Release Order, and a 29-year-old Cobourg woman was charged with Failure to Comply with a Release Order and two counts of Failure to Comply with a Probation Order. Both were held for a bail hearing and subsequently remanded into custody.


A 56-year-old Cobourg woman is facing charges after police responded to a theft.

On February 9, 2026, at approximately 1:30 p.m., police responded to a business on Elgin Street West after staff reported shoplifting in progress involving a female who refused to return merchandise when confronted. Officers located an individual matching the description nearby. As a result of the investigation, a 56-year-old Cobourg woman was arrested and charged with theft under $5,000 and failing to comply with probation. The accused was released on an undertaking with a future court date.
