Impaired arrest after police responded to a 9-1-1 hang-up.
On January 22, 2029, at approximately 10:20 p.m., police attended the area of 500 Division Street and Munroe Street to investigate a 9-1-1 hang-up call.
Upon arrival, officers located a man seated in the driver’s seat of a vehicle. While speaking with the driver, police detected an odour of alcohol on his breath and noted other signs of impairment. The man acknowledged having consumed alcoholic beverages earlier in the evening. A roadside breath test was administered, resulting in a fail. The male later provided breath samples to a qualified technician.
As a result, a 26-year-old Cobourg man was arrested and charged with operation while impaired-blood concentration over 80mg. The accused was released on an undertaking with a future court date.
The Cobourg Police Service encourages the public to report suspected impaired driving by calling 911.
