A 41-year-old Cobourg woman is facing charges after police responded to a theft report.
On December 10, 2025, at approximately 6:30 a.m., police responded to a report of theft from a porch at a residence in the area of University Avenue West and Ontario Street in Cobourg. Police reviewed the surveillance footage and identified the individual.
As a result of the police investigation, a 41-year-old Cobourg woman was arrested and charged with theft under $5,000 and possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000. The accused was held for a bail hearing and subsequently released.
The Cobourg Police Service notes that since December 2025, the accused has been arrested eight times with eight criminal charges. In total, police have had 150 interactions with the accused in the past year.
A 43-year-old Cobourg man is facing charges following a shoplifting incident.
On Saturday, December 13, 2025, at approximately 8:05 p.m., police were dispatched to a theft in progress at a business on Strathy Road in Cobourg after an individual selected and concealed products and left the store without paying. Police located the suspect exiting the store. As a result, the 43-year-old Cobourg man was arrested and charged with Theft Under $5,000 and Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Under $5,000. The accused was released on an undertaking with a future court date.
A 38-year-old Lakeport man is facing impaired driving charges after police responded to a report of suspected impaired driving on Thursday night.
On December 11, 2025, at approximately 11:00 p.m., police responded to a report of a suspected impaired driver in the area of Elgin Street and Strathy Road in Cobourg after the complainant witnessed a vehicle driving erratically in a parking lot. The driver departed the vehicle with a container of alcohol. As a result of the police investigation, a 38-year-old Lakeport man was arrested and charged with Operation while impaired and Failure or refusal to comply with demand. The accused was released on an undertaking with a future court date.
The accused’s driver’s license was suspended for 90 days, and the vehicle was impounded for 7 days.
Cobourg police arrested an individual following a vehicle-related assault.
On December 15, 2025, at approximately 9:15 p.m., police responded to a report of a woman injured by a vehicle. The complainant reported being involved in a dispute with an ex-partner. The complainant alleged the driver reversed, causing injury to her foot. The driver then left the scene. As a result of the police investigation, a 34-year-old Cobourg man was arrested and charged with Dangerous Operation, Assault with a Weapon, and Fail to Remain. The accused was released on an undertaking with conditions.
