City of Belleville Garbage Bag Tag Fee To Increase

In City Hall, Local

The City of Belleville is advising residents that the cost of a garbage bag tag will increase from $3 to $3.50 per tag, effective March 18, 2026.

The adjustment was approved by Council as part of the 2026 Budget and reflects rising waste collection and processing costs. User fees help support the long-term sustainability of waste services while managing overall impacts on the tax levy.

Garbage bag tags purchased prior to March 18 may continue to be used after the effective date. Tags are available at regular retail locations and select City facilities.

The City is providing advance notice to ensure residents have time to prepare for the change. For more information and updates, visit Belleville.ca.
