More “Mechanical Issues” with CN Rail in Colborne

In Local

A number of CN Rail railway crossings were blocked in Colborne on Wednesday, November 19, 2025.

Media relations with CN Rail, Michelle Hannan said at approximate 8 p.m., “a CN train came to a stop due to a mechanical issue. Safety is a core value at CN, and repairs were completed before train traffic resumed at approximately 9:30 pm local time. The issue was minor and at no time was there any threat to public safety.”

“We recognize that these types of delays, especially when they occur more than once, can be frustrating for nearby residents. While mechanical issues are not uncommon in rail operations, we continually analyze incidents to improve safety and performance, including those involving mechanical failures.
We appreciate the community’s patience and apologize for the inconvenience caused while our crews worked to safely resolve these issues.”

Northumberland OPP said they were advised at 8:40 p.m. of the issue that was blocking three crossings in Colborne.
