Total calls for service – Belleville Police responded to 89 calls for service over a 24-hour period beginning at 5:00 am on October 20, 2025 to 5:00 am on October 21, 2025.
Intimate Partner Violence
On October 20th at 10:48am, Belleville Police responded to a report of an assault in the city’s west end. The complainant reported observing a male slap a female. Officers attended the address and spoke with the male and the female. It was reported that a verbal altercation had occurred, which escalated when the male slapped the female.
As a result of investigation, a 27-year-old Belleville man was arrested and charged with assault. He was held for a bail hearing.

On October 20th at 11:52am, Belleville Police responded to a report of a domestic dispute in the city’s west end. Upon arrival, officers spoke with a male and female. It was reported that a verbal altercation had occurred, during which the male pushed the female into a bathtub.
As a result of investigation, a 20-year-old Belleville man was arrested and charged with assault. He was released on an Undertaking with conditions not to communicate with the female and is scheduled to appear in court in December.
Theft
On October 20th at 5:11pm, Belleville Police responded to a report of theft at a business in the city’s north end. It was reported that a male had stolen items and fled on foot. Officers attended the area and located the suspect matching the description. Officers observed that he was in possession of the stolen items.
As a result of investigation, Todd Plews, a 48-year-old Belleville man, was arrested and charged with theft under $5000. He was released on an Undertaking and is scheduled to appear in court in November.
Serious Motor Vehicle Collision – Update: Police Appealing for Witnesses

Original Release
On October 19, 2025, at approximately 2:57am, police received a report of a serious collision on Old Highway 2 involving a Honda Civic and a Chevrolet Cruze.
When officers arrived, they found both vehicles with extensive damage. Paramedics and fire services were already on scene, and three people had been taken to hospital. One person was in critical condition, and two others sustained minor injuries.
The initial investigation indicates that the Honda Civic, travelling eastbound at a high rate of speed, crossed into the westbound lane and collided head-on with the Chevrolet Cruze at approximately 2:20am.
