A spooktacular display for Halloween has once again been created in Port Hope.
You’d be hard pressed to find outdoor space at the home of Tim Robinson and Laura Farmer at 4 Payne Crescent that hasn’t been decorated for Halloween.
Last year their front yard was filled with Halloween decoration – this year they’ve gone above and beyond.
Although the work was done by Tim, it was Laura who gave him the inspiration.
“I started by asking him to make me a broom to hang in the front hall.”
“He did it and loved doing it.”
Tim told Laura he could do more, and from that the spark was created that now takes in their entire front and back yard – and roof.
It took Tim at least two weeks to create the display.
“Last year there were a lot of comments about the detail and people were noticing the small things that were put into the display and it’s appreciated.”
“Tim has spent so much time and energy putting this together for everybody and I’m just so proud of him.”
Walking to the entrance you’re greeted with a sign that says, “Payne Manor” and luckily there is vacancy.
Putting the finishing touches on the display, Tim managed to stop and talk to Today’s Northumberland for a moment while wearing a mask and holding a skull.
Tim said while constructing the display, there is no planned layout, he just uses his imagination.
Most of the items in the display came from social media including Marketplace.
The couple said it’s an amazing place to find Halloween items.
“The rest of the items come from Tim’s brain,” said Laura.
“He loves Halloween and he loves the creative part of it. Halloween is the time where you can make the most out of what you have laying around.”
Last year the couple received amazing feedback from the community on the display with requests to keep it going.
They’ve done that – and more.
People are encouraged to walk through in the day or night time and if they choose can donated to the Northumberland Fare Share Food Bank.
“We decided we should be doing it for something and we just wanted to make sure everyone is taken care of this year.”
It’s estimated last years display helped bring in over 1,200 pounds of food.
The display lights will be on every night until 10 p.m.
On Friday, Saturday and Sunday nights all the lights will be on and as an added bonus there will be lightning, music and fog to set the mood.
“We’re hoping that it brings people a lot of joy.”
