The Town of Cobourg Public Works and Engineering Division would like to advise Pebble Beach neighbourhood residents and visitors the previously communicated water service shutdown will now take place on Tuesday, October 14, 2025 from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

This is rescheduled from the original date of Tuesday, October 7, 2025, due to additional watermain testing required.

This shutdown is required to complete the watermain connections related to the replacement of the King Street West Culvert, located approximately 0.6 km west of Burnham Street. The impacted local residents have received a construction notice with additional details.

This date and timeframe are dependent upon weather conditions and that test results of the recently installed watermain have passed the required testing.

Residents are advised to draw enough water to supply your needs in advance of this time and keep all faucets and fixtures closed while the water is off.

Before the Water Service is Off
• Residents are advised to have their 72-hour emergency kit on hand: https://www.ontario.ca/page/be-prepared-emergency#section-2

• Anyone with pets or children should have extra wipes or water for an emergency bath

• Ice makers should be turned off

• Toilet flushing water: Fill a bathtub or buckets in advance. Recommended amount of water per flush is one bucket, ~6–8 L.

• Any water-dependent equipment (e.g., humidifiers, CPAP cleaning) should be prepped with clean water.

First-Hour Steps When Water Service Returns

• Run COLD water at the lowest tap for 5–10 minutes until it runs clear; then move to upstairs taps.

• Avoid hot water until cold runs fully clear; this prevents drawing any sediment into the water heater.

• Slowly reopen ice makers/reverse osmosis systems after water is clear; discard the first full bin of ice.

• Check for air in lines: brief sputtering is normal.

• Laundry caution: If water is discoloured, delay washing, until clear.

• Pressure may be low at first and recover over the next hour.

The Cobourg Fire Department is aware of the water service disruption and will be prepared to respond to emergency situations accordingly.

The Town of Cobourg thanks residents for their patience and understanding while we complete this critical infrastructure project. Please note, this is not the south half of the culvert installation. The Town of Cobourg will update the community regarding the schedule for that work as soon as it is known.
