A Tribute to Port Hope Transit Coordinator Jerry Siebarth

In Local

It is with deep sadness that we share the news of the passing of Jerry Siebarth, Transit Coordinator for the Municipality of Port Hope.

Jerry joined the Municipality in 2018 during the transition of our transit service from a contracted model to a municipal service. In his role, he provided leadership and support to transit employees, operations, and municipal crossing guards.

Jerry also served on the municipality’s Joint Health and Safety Committee from 2024-2025. From the outset, Jerry demonstrated a steadfast commitment to serving our community and improving the lives of those who relied on transit each day.

Beyond his work in transit, Jerry built meaningful connections across Port Hope. He worked closely with long-term care homes to help enhance the quality of life for seniors and was a proud supporter of the annual Tammies Jammies pajama drive during the holiday season. His dedication, compassion, and contributions will be remembered with gratitude.

Mayor Hankivsky, on behalf of Council and staff, extends her heartfelt condolences to Jerry’s family, friends, and colleagues. In recognition of his service to the Municipality and the community, the flags at Town Hall have been lowered to half-mast.
