Panthers Snap Four-Game Losing Skid

In Hockey

After four straight losses to open the Provincial Junior Hockey League season, the Port Hope Panthers got their first win Saturday night at the Jack Burger Sports Complex, edging the Frankford Huskies 3-2 in a shootout.

The Panthers were down 2-0 early in the second period before goals from Christian Sokoljuk and Spencer Eriksson.

After the rest of regulation and overtime solved nothing, Mike Hatfield and Ryerson Minifie scored for Port Hope in the shootout with goaltender Braden Henderson allowing just one goal against six Frankford shooters.

The Huskies have some familiar faces on their staff to Port Hope fans. Ian Green is the general manager, Mat Goody is their new head coach and former Panthers coach John Foley is listed as an assistant with Frankford.
