Northumberland OPP – Suspect Charged with Stealing Liquor (Name Released)

One additional individual has been charged in connection with a theft from a commercial premises in Colborne.

On October 11, 2024, members of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received a report of a theft from a business located on Toronto Street in Colborne. It was reported that several individuals stole approximately $865 worth of liquor. On September 10, 2025, officers located and arrested two individuals in relation to the investigation.

On September 12, 2025, a third individual was taken into custody.

As a result, Ashvin BALAKUGAN (20) of Toronto, has been charged with:

Theft Under $5,000 – Shoplifting

All three accused are scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in October.
