Quinte West OPP – Four Drivers Charged with Impaired in Two Days (Name Released)

The Quinte West Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has laid charges in four more impaired driving investigations.

On Thursday, September 11, 2025, at approximately 8:30 p.m., a traffic complaint on Highway 2 led to an investigation where an individual was arrested for being impaired. The driver was transported to the detachment for further testing.
Richard EGGLETON, age 52, from Quinte West, was charged with the f ollowing offences:
Operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs
Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)

 

On Thursday, September 11, 2025, at approximately 10:45 p.m., officers responded to another traffic complaint on Stockdale Road, resulting in the arrest of the driver for being impaired. The driver was transported to the detachment for further testing.
Jason VIDITO, age 45, from Prince Edward County, was charged with the following offences:
Operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs
Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)

 

On Thursday, September 11, 2025, at approximately 11:15 p.m., officers with the Quinte West OPP responded to a traffic complaint on 2nd Dug Hill Road leading to an investigation where an ASD was used, resulting in the arrest of the driver for being impaired. The driver was transported to the detachment for further testing.
Alicia SMITH, age 28, from Quinte West was charged with the following offences:
Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)

 

On Friday, September 12, 2025, at approximately 7:45 p.m., officers with the Quinte West OPP responded to a traffic complaint on Glen Ross Road leading to an investigation where an ASD was used, resulting in the arrest of the driver for being impaired. The driver was transported to the detachment for further testing.
Shirley SHIELDS, age 63, from Quinte West, was charged with the following offences:
Operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs
Operation while impaired – combined blood alcohol and blood drug concentration (80 plus)
Having care or control of a motor vehicle with liquor readily available
All the accused were released from custody and are scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Belleville on a later date. Additionally, the vehicles they were operating were impounded for seven days, and their licences suspended for 90 days.
