Intimate Partner Violence Incident
Two Peterborough women are facing charges after an intimate partner violence incident Sunday afternoon.
At approximately 5:00pm on September 7, 2025, officers were called to the fire station on Sherbrooke Street about a woman with an injury to her hand. Upon arrival, it was learned that two women had been socializing near Millennium Park when a verbal argument escalated and one of the women was struck with a knife on the hand. The woman with the injury was treated and released by EMS at the scene. While the investigation was underway, the second woman walked by and was taken into custody.
As a result of the investigation:
A 53-year-old Peterborough woman was arrested and charged with:
Failure to comply with undertaking
A 59-year-old Peterborough woman was arrested and charged with:
Failure to comply with undertaking (party to the offence)
Assault with a weapon – spousal
The women are known to each other and were on conditions to stay away from each other and not communicate.
Both women are being held in custody and will appear in court today, September 8, 2025.
The names of those involved are not being released as it is an incident of intimate partner violence.
Impaired Arrest
A 51-year-old Peterborough woman is facing impaired charges after a concerned citizen called about a possible impaired driver Sunday evening.
At approximately 7:50pm on September 7, 2025, officers were called to a residence in the Stornoway Place and Goodfellow Road area. Upon arrival, officers learned that a vehicle had been driven over the lawn and median. After speaking with the driver of the vehicle, officers noticed signs of impairment.
As a result of the investigation, a 51-year-old Peterborough woman was arrested and charged with:
Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)
Operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs
The accused was issued an automatic 90-day license suspension and a seven day vehicle impoundment.
The accused was released on an undertaking and is scheduled to appear in court, October 21, 2025.
