Peterborough County OPP – Vehicle In Ditch Leads to Impaired Charge (Name Released)

Officers from the Peterborough County detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have charged an individual with impaired driving after investigating a vehicle in the ditch call.

On Wednesday August 20, 2025, shortly after 5:00pm, Peterborough County OPP officers received a call regarding a vehicle that had gone off the road on Birch Island Road and entered the ditch.

Officers arrived on scene and observed the vehicle with the driver seated in the passenger seat. Officers spoke with the driver and determined them to be under the influence of alcohol. The individual was arrested and transported to the Peterborough County OPP detachment for further testing.

Sienna MAK (age 19) of Lakefield, ON., was arrested and charged with;

• Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)

• Fail to have insurance card

• Young driver – B.A.C. above zero

The accused had their driver’s licence suspended for 90-days, and their vehicle impounded for seven days.

The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Peterborough on September 23, 2025.
