Within the span of just over an hour 14-vehicles went the wrong way on a one way street in Cobourg on Sunday, August 10, 2025.
The problem has been ongoing for a number of years, but until Today’s Northumberland first documented the issue, there have never been numbers to go with the issue.
Within the span of two hours on Saturday there were approximately 20-vehicles traveling in the wrong direction on Charles Street which is a one-way street.
Today’s Northumberland went out on Sunday and from approximately noon to 1 p.m. there were 14-vehicles going in the wrong direction on Charles Street.
Some even continued north, traveling in the wrong direction on McGill Street which is also a one way-street.
One police officer was positioned at Queen and Charles Street and as a vehicle went north in the wrong direction from the Centennial Pool parking lot, but a friend of the driver quickly pointed out there was a police officer and the vehicle reversed and headed in the proper direction.
Another driver parked directly beside a fire hydrant which is against the by-law.
