Quinte West OPP – High Speed Leads to Stunt Driving and Impaired Charges (Name Released)

A Quinte West resident is facing multiple charges after being stopped on Highway 401.

On Monday, July 21, 2025, just before 7:00 p.m., an officer with the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Highway Safety Division’s Traffic Incident Management Enforcement (TIME) team detected an eastbound car traveling at 177 kilometres per hour.

The vehicle was pulled over and an approved alcohol screening device was utilized. As a result, the driver was arrested and transported to the Quinte West Detachment for further testing.

Alexandra MACKAY, age 31, has been charged with:

Operation while impaired – alcohol

Operation while impaired-blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)

Stunt driving – excessive speed

The accused was release from custody and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Belleville on August 14, 2025.

The individual’s licence has been suspended for 90 days, and the car was impounded for 14 days.

The Highway Safety Division was assisted in the investigation by officers with the Quinte West OPP.
