Cobourg Police – Investigating Serious Assault

Members of the Cobourg Police Service are currently on scene in the area of Fisher Street and Kerr Street in the Town of Cobourg investigating an assault. Anyone with information about the incident is asked to contact the police.

Today at approximately 5:30 a.m., police responded to a report of assault in the area of Fisher Street and Kerr Street. Two males dressed in dark clothing and wearing masks entered a wooded area. They assaulted two individuals in a tent with bear spray and a baseball bat. One victim sustained minor injuries and was cleared on scene. One victim was transported to hospital with serious injuries. The suspects are believed to have fled the area on foot.

The investigation is ongoing. Police will be on scene until further notice. Anyone with information, dashcam footage, or CCTV footage of the area is asked to call the police at 905-372-6821 or leave an anonymous tip with Crime Stoppers by calling 1-800-222-TIPS or visiting stopcrimehere.ca. Tips received through Crime Stoppers may be eligible for a cash reward.

There is no risk to public safety at this time. An update will be provided when information is available.
