Breaking News – Video – Cobourg Police Investigating Serious Assault

Cobourg Police continue to investigate a serious assault in the west end of town early Tuesday, July 15, 2025.

At approximately 7:00 a.m., police responded to a report of assault in the area of Fisher Street and Kerr Street.

Two males dressed in dark clothing and wearing masks entered a wooded area.

They assaulted two individuals in a tent with bear spray and a baseball bat.

One victim sustained minor injuries and was cleared on scene.

One victim was transported to hospital with serious injuries. The suspects are believed to have fled the area on foot.

Special Constables canvassed the area, seeking security footage including doorbell camera footage that may have captured suspicious activity in the area between 4:30 a.m. and 7:30 a.m.

A Peterborough Police Service canine unit searched the area for any evidence.

Anyone with information, dashcam footage, or CCTV footage of the area is asked to call the police at 905-372-6821 or leave an anonymous tip with Crime Stoppers by calling 1-800-222-TIPS or visiting stopcrimehere.ca.

Tips received through Crime Stoppers may be eligible for a cash reward.
Although police have not said if there is anyone in custody, they did state there is no risk to public safety at this time.
