Port Hope Police – Vehicle Theft Alert: High-End Vehicles and Trucks Targeted

In Police Blotter

The Port Hope Police Service is alerting residents to a rise in suspicious activity involving attempts to steal high-end luxury vehicles and pickup trucks in residential neighbourhoods.

In recent weeks, officers have received multiple reports of individuals scouting vehicles in driveways, often during the overnight hours. These suspects are believed to be targeting specific makes and models that are in high demand for organized auto theft rings. Pickup trucks and luxury SUVs are especially at risk.

What to Watch For

Common signs of suspicious activity include:

  • People walking up and down driveways late at night.
  • Vehicles with no lights on slowly driving through residential streets.
  • Unknown individuals using devices near vehicle doors (signal-boosting or reprogramming tools).
  • Tampered door handles or damaged keyholes.

If you witness any of these activities, do not approach suspects. Instead, call 911 immediately if a crime is in progress, or report non-urgent suspicious behavior to the Port Hope Police Service at 905-885-8123 . You can also submit anonymous tips to Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477) .

The Port Hope Police Service continues to investigate these incidents and is working closely with regional and provincial partners to combat organized vehicle theft operations. Your assistance and awareness play a crucial role in helping to deter these crimes.

Anyone with information on a crime are asked to contact Port Hope Police at 905-885-8123 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS
