Port Hope Youth Competing at 2025 Bell Canadian Swimming Trials in British Columbia

In Local, Sports

A 17-year-old Port Hope youth is competing at the 2025 Bell Canadian Swimming Trials in Victoria, British Columbia this week.

Molly Steeves will be racing the 50m butterfly, an event that was recently announced to be part of the Los Angeles 2028 Olympic program.

If Molly is successful at the trials she will compete in the Singapore 2025 World Championships this summer.

It’s been nearly a decade since a NORAC member has qualified any swimmers for the Canadian Trials.

Molly began swimming for Trinity College School prior to the pandemic, where she built a foundation in competitive swimming. She came to Northumberland Aquatic Club in 2020 as a beginner, and is now considered an elite level athlete within Canada.

“Molly has been working really hard this year. She has focused on improving many technical elements of her stroke and tactical components of her race” said Steven Taylor, NORAC’s Head Coach.

Molly will swim the 50 fly, event #31 on Day 6, Thursday – in the Prelims (and possibly the Finals). All events at Trials are broadcast on CBC:
