Belleville Police – Incidents Include Weapons Incident Leads to Charges, Assault, Threaten to Injure Animal

Total calls for service – Belleville Police responded to 121 calls for service over a 24-hour period beginning at 5:00 am on May 5, 2025 to 5:00 am on May 6, 2025.

Weapons incident leads to charges
On the 5th of May at 7:05pm, a man and woman were down near Keegan Parkway fishing when they observed a male unknown to them begin to verbally harass another individual who was minding is own business. The woman began to stand up for the individual in an effort to assist him. The male causing the trouble then turned his attention to the female, threatened her with two rocks and then began to smash her car windows with the rocks. Her husband then stepped in and confronted the male. The unknown male then brandished a knife and threatened to kill both of them. The male began to chase the husband with the knife attempting to slash him. The husband was able to grab a bat from his car to protect himself with. The woman called police. The husband was able to out run the suspect until police arrived. When police arrived, they immediately arrested the suspect who still had the knife in his possession. Fortunately, no one sustained any physical injuries from this incident. As a result of the investigation, a 59-year-old man of no fixed address was charged with assault with a weapon, weapons dangerous, mischief and uttering threats to cause death. He was held for a bail hearing.

Assault and breach of Probation
On the 5th of May at 11:46am, police attended a residence in the city’s east end after receiving information that a resident had punched another person in the home and was threatening others. Following the investigation, police arrested and charged a 25-year-old Belleville woman with assault and breach of probation. She was held for a bail hearing.

Threatening to injure an animal leads to charges
On the 5th of May at 1:13pm, Belleville Police attended a residence in the city’s east end regarding a domestic dispute. Police spoke to the involved parties. During their investigation, police learned that the involved male had threatened to injured the complainant’s dog. As a result, police arrested and charged the 42-year-old Belleville man with threatening to harm an animal. The male was later released on an Undertaking with a court date in June.
