Security Guard Assaulted at Transition House in Cobourg

A 44-year-old Cobourg woman is facing charges after police responded to a disturbance on Friday afternoon at 310 Division Street/Transition House.

On Friday, April 11, 2025, at approximately 2:15 p.m., police were dispatched to a business, which Today’s Northumberland has confirmed was Transition House on Division Street in response to a disturbance.

Police attended the area and learned that an individual was asked to leave the business for being disruptive and subsequently assaulted a staff member.

Executive Director Ike Nwibe stated, “there was an incident involving a service user and the security at 310 Division last week. Due to the nature of the incident, it was escalated to the police and the individual was removed.”

The security guard received minor injuries.

As a result of the police investigation, a 44-year-old Cobourg woman was arrested and charged with assault and fail to comply with probation.

The accused was held for a bail hearing.
