Northumberland OPP – Speeding Driver Charged with Impaired (Name Released)

Members of the Northumberland Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have charged a driver with impaired operation following traffic enforcement.

On March 20, 2025, at around 3:15 a.m., police were on County Road 2 in the Township of Alnwick/Haldimand when they observed a passenger vehicle travelling at 122 Km/h in a posted 70 Km/h limit.

The driver fled from police and the vehicle and was soon located at a nearby residence. Officers spoke to the driver and entered into an impaired operation investigation. An Approved Screening Device (ASD) demand was made for a sample of breath. The person complied and with the result of ‘FAIL’, the individual was taken into custody and transported to a local detachment for further tests.

As a result, Brandon HRAZDIRA (age 31) from Whitby, has been charged with:

– Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plu s)

– Operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs

– Flight from peace officer

– Drive motor vehicle – perform stunt – excessive speed

– Fail to notify change of address – licence.

In addition to a future court date, the driver was issued a 90-day licence suspension, and the vehicle was impounded for 14 days.

The OPP remains committed to ensuring Ontario roads are safe from impaired drivers. If you suspect that someone is driving while impaired by alcohol or drugs, it is important to call 9-1-1 to report it.
