City of Kawartha Lakes OPP – Barrie Woman Charged with Impaired (Name Released)

On February 7, 2025, at approximately 2:00 p.m., members of the City of Kawartha Lakes Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a traffic complaint on Kings Wharf Road regarding a vehicle stuck in a ditch.

Upon arrival, officers spoke with the driver, and after conducting an investigation.

34-year-old Kimberly Elliott of Barrie was arrested and charged with the following offences:

–      Operation while impaired (alcohol and drugs)

–      Operation while impaired (blood alcohol concentration over 80 mg)

As a result of the charges, the driver received a 90-day license suspension, and the vehicle was impounded for 7 days.

The OPP reminds all drivers that no amount of alcohol or drugs is safe when driving. The OPP remains committed to removing impaired drivers from the roads through both enforcement and public education. Arrive alive, drive sober.
