Kawartha Lakes Police – Lindsay Man Charged with Attempted Murder (Name Released)

On March 5th, 2025 the Kawartha Lakes Police Criminal Investigations Branch were actively seeking a male suspect responsible for a violent stabbing which occurred on March 3rd 2025 in Lindsay, On.

At approximately 2:00pm the suspect was observed in the area of Queen Street and Lindsay Street North, and upon seeing police fled the area on foot. Uniformed officers quickly contained the area preventing his escape, and located the suspect hiding underneath a parked vehicle.

The accused was arrested and taken into custody without incident.

Investigation revealed that the accused had been released from custody on February 20th 2025, and was bound by conditions on four separate probation orders.

At the time of his arrest, the accused was also the subject of two outstanding warrants for failing to meet the conditions of his probation, theft under $5000 and possession of property obtained by crime under $5000.

29-year-old Michael Thomas of Lindsay is charged with:

· Attempt to Commit Murder

· Breach of Probation x 4

He was held in custody pending a bail hearing at the Ontario Court of Justice in Lindsay.

On March 5th 2025 the victim was airlifted to an outside hospital where he remains in critical condition.
The Criminal Investigations Branch is continuing to investigating the incident.
