Belleville Police Service – Incidents Include Theft of Party Speaker, Weapons Call, Arrest on Warrant

Total calls for service – Belleville Police responded to 220 calls for service between 5:00 am on February 14, 2025 to 5:00 am on February 18, 2025.

Theft of a large party speaker
On the 14th of February at 12:18pm, an unknown suspect entered a business on Bell Blvd and stole a large party speaker. Police are working with store employees in an effort to identify the suspect. The value of the speaker is in excess of $400.

Weapons call
On the 15th of February at 9:01pm, Belleville Police were called to an address in the city’s east end for a report of a male brandishing a knife towards a woman and her children while they were standing in front of a business. The suspect is described as 40-45 years old, wearing a black winter coat, stalky build and having blue eyes. Police were not notified of the incident until almost an hour after it occurred. Police searched the area however were unable to locate the suspect. Police are continuing to investigate the incident.

Arrested on Warrant
On the 16th of February at 9:15pm, members of the Belleville Police Service were notified that a male wanted by the Belleville Police on a plethora of charges had been arrested by the Lennox and Addington OPP. At 10:40pm, Belleville Police received custody of the 47-year-old Belleville man. He was held for a bail hearing. The identity of the male is not being released in order to protect the victim in the original incident. The accused is charged with:
· uttering threats
· assault
· firearm use while committing an indictable offence
· pointing a firearm
· possession of a firearm contrary to a prohibition order and
· possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose

Deployment of Conducted Energy Weapon
On the 17th of February at 2:20pm, Belleville Police were called to an apartment building in the city’s east end regarding a female with a knife. Officers arrived on scene and were confronted by the 36-year-old female brandishing the knife. Numerous attempts were made to de-escalate the situation with communication however the female refused to relinquish the knife. A Conductive Energy Weapon was successfully deployed which brought the incident to a safe conclusion. Robin Barry of Belleville, was arrested for weapons dangerous to the public and held for a bail hearing. There were no reported injuries from this incident.

Weather related assistance
Members of the Belleville Police Service were busy over the weekend providing assistance to numerous motorists due to weather related incidents. Officers assisted several motorists who were stuck in their driveway or ditches. Police are reminding motorists to adjust their driving according to the weather and road conditions and leave extra time for travel.
