Northumberland County Releases Breakdown of Provincial Funding for 310 Division Street

Today’s Northumberland asked for a breaking down of how the Provincial funding totaling $2,469,500 has been allocated for 310 Division Street to date.

Communications Director for Northumberland County, Kate Campbell said, the initial focus has been code and renovation-related work to open the shelter as quickly as possible. A remaining budget of $1,129,500 will be allocated based on prioritization of identified needs, including replacing the heating and cooling systems.

  Description Costs
Phase 1 Design for building renovations to meet building and fire code compliance and operational needs.

Renovation/construction of 1st Floor – warming/cooling centre and resource centre. Work included plumbing repairs/upgrades, new washroom, new laundry facilities, new wall, replacement/ repairs of walls and ceilings, painting throughout, garbage enclosure, fencing, landscaping, electrical upgrades, and fire safety equipment.

Accessibility Improvements Universal washroom on 1s Floor, accessible showers on 2nd and 3rd floors, accessible improvements to units and new power doors. $95,000
Security Security monitoring and systems installation for building. $275,000
Phase 2 Renovation/construction of Floors 2-4 – emergency shelter spaces on 2nd and 3rd floors, and transitional housing on 4th floor.

Work included new flooring in stairwells and rooms, new common room with kitchenette, new bathroom exhaust systems, extension of fire walls, exterior window panel replacements, kitchenettes in transitional housing units, replacement of bathroom fixtures, new laundry facilities, electrical and plumbing upgrades, fire safety equipment, fire door upgrades, drywall repairs and painting throughout.
