Video – 13th Annual Queenies Bake Shop Christmas Toy Drive Wrapping Up

In Community, Local

The annual Queenies Bake Shop Christmas Toy Drive in Port Hope is coming to an end for another year.

But there is still time for the community to donate.

There are two words that owner of Queenies Bake Shop would like to convey to the community – “thank you.”

“Things are going great,” said Pearson.

“This year has been wonderful. The community has really got on board.”

For the last 13-years, Pearson has invited the community to donate gifts and he matches each gift with another of the same value or more.

“We’ve got a lot of toys here and there are three more days to collect.”

There is no specific list for the toys, and Pearson says it’s “whatever you feel.”

“Because I do match the toys that get brought in, whatever I feel is the need at the end – that’s what I’ll purchase.”

Thirteen-years-ago when he started the toy drive he wasn’t sure how successful it would be.

“Right away, you see the impact this community always brings back.”

Year after year the community has donated towards the toy drive and Pearson said he is more than grateful.

“Thank you. Thank you not just for this year, but for every year and all the contributions that you give.

Not just to this toy drive, but to many other things in this community like Tammies Jammies.”

People can donate on Saturday and Monday.

On Tuesday, the local Children’s Aid Society will pick up all the gifts and deliver them to children in the area.
