The Northumberland-Clarke Federal Liberal Association proudly announces that they have chosen
John Goheen as the new federal Liberal candidate for the riding of Northumberland-Clarke.
At a recent event at the Cobourg Lions Centre, in front of an enthusiastic crowd of supporters, Mr.
Goheen was honoured to be selected as the next federal Liberal candidate.
John is a lifelong educator serving in many communities across the riding. He has been a teacher,
vice principal and principal. He is a strong advocate for our rural communities and proudly grew up
in an agricultural family. He has three sons with his wife Dani.
“Northumberland Clarke is a large and diverse riding and John brings the special quality of having
lived and worked in all corners of the riding. He understands the different challenges facing
families in each of our communities. Combining this with his personal leadership qualities of
openness, approachability, focus, commitment and drive will make John an outstanding MP for the
people of Northumberland Clarke”, says Sandy Wiseman, Chair of the Federal Liberal Association
of Northumberland Clarke.
“It is both my privilege and honour to represent the new riding of Northumberland-Clarke as its first
Liberal candidate,” stated Goheen. “We need an M.P. who is willing to listen to concerns and act
on them. M.P.s should be about actually caring. It’s about doing everything you can to get
dollars and programs to your riding to create sustainable and lasting opportunities. We are up
against a party that isn’t about Canada. It is about absolute power at all costs.”
“Pierre Poilievre’s version of Canada is a small view; a view that is about a selfish, self-centred
pursuit where everyone is out for themselves. Poilievre doesn’t believe in shared goals or a
national best interest. He merely believes in his own best interest. He believes a 10 second
sound bite that rhymes is more important than real public discourse,” stated John Goheen.
“I look forward, over the coming weeks and months, to making contact with as many citizens as
I can. I also look forward to discussing my plans for this riding around affordability, productivity
and sustainability,” said Goheen.
“We live in the greatest democracy with shared common values like generosity, hard work and
hope. Hope is a word that has, at times, been made to seem trite, overused. But we look at
those countries where hope is being abandoned, disregarded and even dismantled. To abandon
hope is to abandon all promise,” said John Goheen, Federal Liberal Candidate for
Northumberland-Clarke.
