Cobourg Police – Incidents Include G2 Driver Facing Charges, Cobourg Man Charged with Assault (No Names Released)

G2 Driver Charged with Careless Drive, Fail to Wear Seatbelt, Fail to Surrender Licence

G2 licensed driver is facing charges after police responded to a motor vehicle collision on Friday night.

On Friday, November 29, 2024, at approximately 11:30 p.m., police responded to a single-vehicle collision on Danforth Road.

An 18-year-old youth was driving on Danforth Road when they lost control and struck a tree. The vehicle
sustained major damage. The G2 driver blew an ‘alert’ on the Approved Screening Device. The driver and
passenger sustained minor injuries.

As a result of the investigation, the driver received a three-day licence suspension and was charged with
Careless Driving, Driver – Fail to Properly Wear Seatbelt, Driver Fail to Surrender Licence, Novice Driver – Blood Alcohol Content Above Zero, and Young Driver – Blood Alcohol Content Above Zero.

Cobourg Man Charged with Assault

A 47-year-old Cobourg man is facing charges following an assault Saturday evening.
On Saturday, November 30, 2024, at approximately 8:35 p.m., police were dispatched to a business on King Street in the Town of Cobourg.

It was reported that a man entered the business and, without provocation, assaulted and threatened a staff member. During the interaction, damage was caused to the building and personal property. The victim attended the hospital for treatment of minor injuries.

Following an investigation, the 47-year-old Cobourg man was arrested and charged with Assault, Uttering Threats, Mischief – Damage Property, Possession of a Schedule I Substance, and Possession of a Schedule III Substance.

He was held for a bail hearing and subsequently released by the courts.

Harwood Man Charged with Assault and Intoxicated in a Public Place

A Harwood man is facing charges following an incident in the early hours of Sunday morning.

On Sunday, December 1, 2024, at approximately 1:00 a.m., police were dispatched to Dodge Street in the Town of Cobourg.

Police attended and located a male intoxicated by alcohol. While assisting the male with locating a place to stay the night, he became aggressive and lunged at police. The 69-year-old Harwood man was placed under arrest for Being Intoxicated in a Public Place. During the arrest, the male assaulted an officer and has been further charged with Assault with intent to Resist Arrest.

The accused was released on an undertaking with a future court date.
