Members from the Northumberland Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have charged an individual with multiple offences following an initial traffic stop.

On September 1, 2024, at approximately 10:45 p.m., OPP were conducting radar enforcement on Highway 401 in the Municipality of Brighton. A pick-up truck was observed travelling eastbound at a speed of 151 km/h in a posted 110 km/h limit. A traffic stop was initiated and the driver pulled over. Police recorded details relevant to the vehicle and made a demand for documents from the driver. The individual then spun the tires of the vehicle before entering back onto the highway at speed.

As a result of an investigation, officers arrested the driver on September 5, 2024.
