Peterborough Police – Youths Charged with Assault and Criminal Harassment

Two Peterborough teens are facing charges after an incident earlier this month.

On August 6, 2024, officers were called to the area of Spillsbury Drive and Sir Sandford Fleming Drive.  Upon arrival, officers learned that a woman had been followed off the bus by two teens, was spat on and intimated.  Through investigation and with the help of video, officers were able to identify the two suspects, one of whom was recently arrested and charged in connection with an incident at the end of July 2024.  https://www.peterboroughpolice.com/en/news/media-release-for-tuesday-august-6-2024.aspx

As a result of the investigation:

A 14-year-old Peterborough male was arrested on August 7, 2024, and charged with:

  • Assault
  • Criminal Harassment – Threatening conduct

The accused was held in custody and appeared in court August 8, 2024.

A 14-year-old Peterborough male was arrested August 18, 2024, and charged with:

  • Criminal Harassment – threatening conduct

The accused was released on an undertaking and is scheduled to appear in court November 25, 2024.

This incident has been classified as a hate bias incident.

Under the Youth Criminal Justice Code, the name of a young person cannot be released.
