Cobourg Police – Two Males Arrested for Mischief to Property

Since May 1, 2024, the 2024 Downtown Action Plan has comprised of a series of proactive crime prevention measures alongside ongoing harm reduction programs. Enforcement of laws and regulations will be a critical focus, particularly in interactions requiring direct intervention due to specific actions or behaviours of individuals.

A man and a youth from Markham are facing charges after a police investigation into a disturbance at a local downtown establishment Tuesday afternoon.

On Tuesday, June 25, 2024, at approximately 5:30 p.m., police responded to a disturbance at a downtown business. The business owner reported that a group of individuals attended and intentionally caused business property damage.

As a result of the investigation, an 18-year-old Markham man was arrested and charged with Mischief—destroying or damaging property. A 17-year-old Markham youth was arrested and charged with Mischief—rendering property dangerous, useless, inoperative, or ineffective.

Both accused were released on Appearance notices with a future court date.
