Cobourg Police Service Board Reaffirms Confidence in Chief of Police

In Local

The Board unanimously passed a motion reaffirming its full confidence in Chief VandeGraaf and the leadership of the Cobourg Police Service. The Board stands firmly behind the Chief and the dedicated members of the Service, who continue to uphold their core policing mandate with professionalism and integrity.

This support is grounded in evidence-based performance. The Cobourg Police Service’s 2024 Annual Report outlines significant achievements in community safety and public service. Notably:

  • $331,440 worth of illicit drugs were seized, including approximately 641 grams of cocaine, 332 grams of methamphetamine, and 511 grams of fentanyl;
  • Four illegal firearms were removed from the community;
  • Several known drug houses were successfully shut down through coordinated enforcement efforts.

These outcomes, among other key performance metrics which are reported publicly, underscore the Service’s continued commitment to proactive policing and public safety. The Board is confident in Chief VandeGraaf’s leadership and the direction of the Service as it fulfills its obligations to the residents of Cobourg.

The Cobourg Police Service Board remains committed to ensuring adequate and effective policing in the Town of Cobourg, in accordance with its legislative mandate under the Community Safety and Policing Act, 2019.

The Board stands united in its strong support of Chief VandeGraaf and firmly rejects any suggestion that he should resign.
