Peterborough Police – Cobourg Man Charged with Impaired (No Name Released)

A 21-year-old Cobourg man is facing impaired charges after an incident early Thursday morning.

At approximately 12:40am on February 22, 2024, officers were made aware of a possible impaired driver as a vehicle had just driven through a backyard in the Park Place and Dalhousie Street area.  Upon arrival officers learned that the vehicle had struck another vehicle before taking off.  Officers started searching the area for the vehicle and driver described to police.  It was located on Monaghan Road just south of Sherbrooke Street and officers conducted a traffic stop.  Officers noticed signs of impairment with the driver.  No one was injured.

As a result of the investigation, a 21-year-old Cobourg man was arrested and charged with:

  • Failure to stop after accident,
  • Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)
  • Operation while impaired – alcohol

The accused was issued an automatic 90-day license suspension and a seven-day vehicle impoundment.

The accused was released on an appearance notice and is scheduled to appear in court March 12, 2024.
