Video – SUV and Trailer Collide on County Road 2 in Hamilton Township

In Police Blotter

One person was transported to hospital with minor injuries following a two vehicle collision on County Road 2 in Hamilton Township on Tuesday, February 13, 2024.

At approximately 2:30 p.m. emergency services including Hamilton Township Fire Department, Cobourg Fire Department, Northumberland OPP and Northumberland County Paramedics responded to the area of County Road 2 and Erwin Moore Road just east of Port Hope for a two vehicle collision.

It appears a SUV was travelling westbound on County Road 2 and a pickup truck hauling a trailer with the frame of a vehicle on it was heading eastbound.

The SUV and the wheel well frame of the trailer collided. The impact caused the frame of the vehicle to come off the trailer and flip upside down in the ditch. The SUV had heavy damage to the front end.

County Road 2 from Hamilton Road to Theatre Road was shut down for approximately an hour so the debris could be cleared off the roadway and ditch.

One person was taken to hospital with minor injuries.

Note: Some media reports indicated a school bus was involved in the collision, but police confirm there was no school bus involved in the collision.
