Northumberland OPP confirmed on Sunday, January 28, 2024 shortly after 2 p.m. officers were alerted of a vehicle travelling eastbound on Highway 401 with a possible stolen licence plate from Quebec.

Numerous officers converged on the vehicle and pulled the vehicle over near Brighton.

Two people were taken from the vehicle and placed into custody said Northumberland OPP Constable James Clarke.

“Through investigation, it was determined that the plate was not stolen and all parties were released unconditionally.”

Clarke stated Highway 401 is often used for the movement of stolen property and as a result, we follow up on any and all information provided as such.
