Cobourg Police – Teenager Charged With Stunt Driving (No Name Released)

In Police Blotter

Cobourg Police Service charge driver with stunt driving in the Town of Cobourg.

On Monday, January 29, 2024, an officer was conducting speed enforcement in the area of Workman Road and King Street East.

An officer observed a vehicle travelling at a high rate of speed. The vehicle was alleged to have been travelling 108km/hr in a 60km/hr zone. A traffic stop was conducted.

As a result of the investigation, the 17-year-old driver was charged with stunt driving, failing to produce a permit, failing to surrender valid insurance, and failing to surrender a driver’s licence.

A driver licence suspension was issued for 30 days, and the vehicle was impounded for 14 days.

Police remind motorists to always follow posted speed limits and be extra cautious in residential areas and community safety zones. In the winter season and inclement weather, roadways can be snow-covered and icy, causing issues with braking, stopping, and loss of control of a vehicle.

If you have a traffic complaint, you can report it through the Cobourg Police Service online reporting system by visiting www.cobourgpoliceservice.com/online-reporting/. To learn more about speeding and aggressive driving and the related consequences, please visit Ontario.ca
